Basketball Milestone Watch

*Note: team and program records are from 2010-11 onwards  On the men's side, senior guard Lenny Pradia has dished out 87 assists in 27 games (not counting an unspecified number of games on the developmental team). He's eight shy of surpassing Herdie Lawrence for tenth-most in team history (Lawrence contributed 94).  On the women's side, junior guard Kalen Surles now has the fifth-most assists in program history- men's or women's- with her 231 helpers. She moves past former men's player and assistant coach Steve Viterbo, who over 91 games recorded 226.  *The only Mountain Lion basketballers with more career assists are Vince Martin, Brian Harper, Lauren Smith and CJ Wilson  There's also the fact that junior forward Mackenzie Johnson can join elite company this season. She needs 78 points to move past Shereese Williams for not only the ninth-most points in women's history but the twentieth-most points across both teams. 

Women's Basketball Milestones

Through the Emory & Henry game, junior forward Mackenzie Johnson has tallied 590 points, moving past Breanna Gleeson for tenth-most on the career list. Only Keta Robinette, Shereese Williams, Carly Winters, Meredith Tarver, Niaya White, Peyton Robertson, Briana Bell, Lauren Smith and Ladondra Johnson have scored more.  Junior guard Kalen Surles , meanwhile, extended her second-best mark for career assists, as she's currently dished out 231 over her career.  In terms of career games played, Johnson is tied with Niaya White for fourteenth with 68 while Surles is right behind her with 67 appearances. Both have surpassed Carly Winters, who tallied 66 games over her career.  CAREER GAMES PLAYED 12th: Lindsey Caudell with 80 13th: Meghan McQuade with 76  14th: Niaya White and Mackenzie Johnson with 68 

Women's Basketball- November 17th v. Anderson-South Carolina

Junior forward Mackenzie Johnson suited up for her sixty-fifth game for the Mountain Lions and celebrated with a 22-point, 12-rebound double-double. With 542 career points, she needs just fourteen to move past Kaycee Cash for twelfth all-time.   Junior guard Kalen Surles appeared in her sixty-fourth career game. She already has the second-most assists in team history and extended that mark with a team-high six helpers, giving her 217 for her career. She's also now started forty-four games, tying Briana Bell for twelfth-most on the career list.   

The November 14th edition of Mountain Lion Milestones

Sophomore defensive specialist Joha Bernis is the first in Young Harris volleyball history with 700 career digs, as she has 726 in 57 career games.  Sophomore setter Mollie Lawrence , in her first season with the team after transferring from Augusta, also etched her name in the record book with the first 500-assist season in Young Harris volleyball history. She finished up with 533 assists in 28 games.

Middle and right-side hitter Jessica Beckner finishes up a two-sport Mountain Lion career having appeared in 39 games for volleyball and 71 total after starting off in basketball, where she saw action in 32 games. Although she didn't appear this season, she finishes having netted 179 points with 156 kills, becoming the first in Young Harris history to record triple-digit points each in two sports (she finished her basketball career with 116 points, meaning she wraps up her YHC career with 295 points total).  In addition to her 295 combined points, she logged 26 combined solo blocks, with 19 in basketball and 7 in volleyball. Middle hitter Alex Pierre finishes a two-season career having appeared in exactly forty games, which is eighth-most on the team's career list. She finishes up with 185 kills, 31 service aces, 77 digs, 68 total blocks with 54 block assists and 257 points. 

Adieu to the women's soccer seniors

Midfielder Hannah Behner appeared in exactly fifty games- starting all fifty- since joining the roster in 2019, and her ten assists ranks third on the program's NCAA-era list, behind just Sydney Baird and Lucero Robayo.  Defender Jhena Ellerbe finishes her career having appeared in fifty-two games with fifty-two starts and logging over 4500 minutes. Of her seventeen career points, eleven came this season off three goals and the first five assists of her career.   In her lone season at Young Harris after transferring from Georgia Military, goalkeeper Havyn Isaac saw action in ten games with nine in goal. She saved fifty-three shots at a .736 clip and tallied 726 minutes in goal.  Defender Natisha John started 23-of-29 games over a three-season career starting in 2020, logging over 2100 minutes. She started all twenty-one games in her first two seasons.  Forward Brooke Morrison finishes her Young Harris career with three goals- including a game-winner- and two...
