Baseball at the D2 Tournament- Final Update
*Note: stats shown are just since 2011
The baseball team wrapped up competition at their second D2 tournament appearance in four seasons with a second loss against Wingate in as many games. There are six seniors on the roster who've made a lot of contributions to the program during their time in the Enchanted Valley. I don't know which of them won't return next year due to the extra year of eligibility given to all student-athletes but let's
Outfielder Logan Worley has appeared 182 times for the Mountain Lions. His fielding percentage of .984 is tied for third-best with Cole Jackson and the only two with better percentages are current assistants Dahlton Cash and Cory Ewald. He's in the top five in hits (216) and runs scored in addition to being second on the HBP list with 28 and on the stolen bases list with 35.
Left-Hander Ryan Inches has struck out 30 across 34 innings as he's appeared 23 times, with 11 appearances coming in 2022.
Infielder Noah Fitzgerald has recorded 132 hits at a .328 clip and scored exactly 100 times. In addition, he's started all 98 of his appearances with 58 of them coming this season.
Catcher/Infielder Jackson Jones is a member of the 200 Club as he's appeared 204 times for Young Harris. He's in the top five in hits (225), doubles (45), home runs (34), runs batted in (161) and total bases (374). He's scored 142 runs and is the record-holder for walks drawn with 116.
Right-Hander McLain Harris, as previously mentioned, has the most pitcher appearances with 103, the most innings pitched with 291 and 2/3, the second-most strikeouts with 279, the most wins with 20 and the most saves with 25. He's also the only member of the 20-20 club (20 wins and 20 saves) and the first 20-win pitcher of Young Harris' NCAA era.
Right-Hander Chad Brown has started 19-of-22 appearances and he's entered the top fifteen with 103 and 2/3 innings pitched and 91 ground-outs in addition to 76 strikeouts. His 124 fly-outs is currently eleventh in team history.
