Volleyball Weekend Recap

The volleyball team had two games against Georgia College, with one on Friday (Sep. 16) and one on Saturday (Sep. 17), and several milestones were set.

*Sophomore defensive specialist Kori Still became the first Young Harris volleyballer with fifty appearances on Friday and currently has fifty-one. Meanwhile, classmate defensive specialist Kallee McKinney recorded her fiftieth appearance on Saturday. Still, McKinney, Alex Boydstone and Jessica Beckner are the only four that remain from the first season roster (Izzy Zamora was also on the roster in the first season, but she's one of the managers this year and not on the active roster).

*Sophomore setter Mollie Lawrence also set Young Harris volleyball history with the first 300-assist season with her nineteenth of Friday's contest. Through Saturday (Sep. 17) she currently has 339 assists, extending her single-season record.

*Then there's junior middle hitter Alex Pierre, who- correcting some of my earlier posts on the topic- is already in the top ten for volleyball games played for Young Harris. She appeared in her twenty-third game for the team on Saturday (Sep. 17), which is tied for ninth with Ginger Truncale.

*Sophomore defensive specialist Joha Bernis and classmate outside hitter Lily Hidalgo can reach forty games played with their next game, which can be Tuesday (Sep. 20) against Lander. Fellow sophomores and middle hitters Sophie Bearden and Shelby Mullins each appeared in their thirty-fifth game in Friday's contest, and both have thirty-six appearances each.
