Mackenzie Johnson's rise up the scoring charts

Back in September, before the basketball season started, Mackenzie Johnson was the fourteenth-best scorer on the women's side and well outside the top twenty overall. She now has 875 points, which is not only fourth-best on the women's side but- currently- tenth-best across all sports at Young Harris since 2011.

Here's just the former athletes she's surpassed with just this season's games alone: Corey Nelson, Justin Jones, Sarah Woghiren, Kaycee Cash, Jenny Vernet, Herdie Lawrence, Marcellus Roberts, Breanna Gleeson, Ryle Owens, Keta Robinette, Nicksen Blanc, Shereese Williams, Bjorn Walker, Kevin Altidor, Seth McCoy, Meredith Tarver, Niaya White, Isaiah Johnson, Bryson Robertson, Peyton Robertson, JB Charles and Brian Harper.

Starting a 200 Club: Softball

Jackson Jones is a member of this club as he's appeared 204 times for the baseball team. In this blog post, though, I'm looking to add names to the list and I'm starting with the softball alumni.  Grace Botti appeared 222 times between 2016 and 2019  Murphy Davis appeared 214 times between 2015 and 2018 Sarah Magill appeared 205 times between 2013 and 2016  Chandler Stooksbury appeared 208 times between 2014 and 2017  Jill Torres appeared 244 times between 2017 and 2021 Haylie Shope , if pitcher and first base appearances are separate, had 183 appearances at first base and 34 in the circle for 217 total. We then add 47 appearances in basketball and she appeared 264 times overall between 2018 and 2021 (she's in the 200 club with the 47 basketball games played as she's at 230 without the pitching appearances).  So thus far, this is the 200 Club: Grace Botti Murphy Davis Jackson Jones Sarah Magill  Haylie Shope  Chandler Stooksbury Jill Torres

Women's Lacrosse: Career Goals Update

If the season is over (and if she's not returning for her grad year), senior attacker Ashlyn Fraley will finish up a 71-game Young Harris career with 136 goals, the fifth-most in Mountain Lion women's lacrosse history. Only Nicole Kernohan, Kendra Parenteau, Taylor Greenberg and Ella Hancock have scored more.   *It's worth noting, however, that Fraley is the only person in the top five in terms of goals to need less than 200 shots on goal to get her goals- she only need 199 shots on target, so she scored on an impressive 68% of her shots on frame.
